Our Institute

... is situated in the heart of the old city, housed in the University of Heidelberg’s oldest building,
the former Jesuit residential college. Despite its age, the building boasts all the amenities of a modern
university. Many classrooms are equipped with laptops and beamers and wireless Internet access is also available.
Our extensive departmental library holds a substantial collection of DVDs as well as other media that students may
borrow and offers ample space for quiet study.
Outside the classroom, the Department of English Studies offers a wealth of opportunities for students to interact
with faculty and each other. In addition to numerous lectures and workshops, the department hosts an annual
Christmas Party
with performances by staff, faculty and students as well as a
Garden Party to close the summer semester.
The student council, Drama Group, Anglistenchor and Creative Writing Group promote other means of creative expression.
